Sounds of the City / Sounds of the Globe

Studio Kalinka

21-28 June | Time: 12:00 - 17:00 | Venue: Soft Ground

ABOUT THE SHOW

Studio Kalinka documents the voices and sounds of three Sheffield based musical creatives alongside inspired sights and sounds of the city. They share their personal or family stories of migration and delve into their own music, in the form of this audio-visual installation. From British Pakistani Sufi devotional singing to Algorave compositions and explorations into Nigerian and Nepalese heritage. Expect to be taken on a journey around the city and beyond. Mixing audio interview, original sound design and photography, Darren Zlatareff ( radio broadcaster/community artist/dj) welcomes you to lesser heard sounds within the city.

This exhibition forms a part of our full exhibition & installation line-up at Soft Ground, including:

  • Madeleina Kay - Fragments of Identity: Portraits of Migration

  • Craft Camp with Women supported by Refugee Council - Wonderful Women! A Story Quilt

  • Phoebe Shu-Ching Chan - Layering Memories.层叠的记忆
