Migration Matters Festival could not happen without the support and generosity from our funders, sponsors & members of the public. the funds allow us to make the festival free or pay what you can so that everyone can access the programme regardless of their financial situation.
Migration Matters Festival is a pay what you decide multi-arts festival celebrating sanctuary, migration and multiculturalism. The festival recognises the positive impact migration has on the city of Sheffield, taking place during the annual Refugee Week every year in June.

The festival has become a regular calendar event in Sheffield's over the past 8 years however it struggles annually to secure enough funds to achieve its aims. As a grassroots, not for profit festival, which is for the people of Sheffield by the people of Sheffield, Migration Matters requires sponsorship and other support to survive.

Our Aims
Raising AwarenessWe raise awareness of the circumstances of migration, which is why we partner and split the festival proceeds with charities and organisations who support and champion the rights of the displaced, vulnerable & destitute refugees and asylum seekers.
Creating OpportunitiesWe provide an opportunity for the public to experience a quality arts programme for free. This will mean that people who are financially vulnerable are not excluded from enjoying the festival.
Breaking Down BarriersWe break down the barriers between migrant communities in the city and the wider British public, to enable more community cohesion built on the values of companionship, solidarity and mutual empowerment.
Providing A PlatformWe provide a platform and empower people whose voices have been ignored, unheard and undermined. We are inviting the people of Sheffield – those who were born here, have travelled here and who have sought sanctuary here – to tell their story.
