Join us for a memorable evening with T.S. Eliot Prize winning poet Roger Robinson who takes us through his collective works in an exploration of home, belonging and the journeys that shape us.
The evening will be hosted by familiar voice Sile Sibanda (BBC Radio Sheffield) with supporting performances from Manchester based poet Keisha Thomson and Finnish-Iraqi writer Ahmed Zaidan as well as opening and closing DJ sets from Ashley Holmes. See bios below.

About Roger Robinson
Roger Robinson is a writer who has performed worldwide. He is the winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize 2019, RSL Ondaatje Prize 2020 and RSL Fellow. Roger has been chosen by Decibel & Arts Council England as one of 50 writers who have influenced the Black-British writing canon & his work has been featured in a number of prominent anthologies, including The Forward Book Of Poetry 2024, Mapping The Future – The Complete Works Poets, Poetry Unbound – 50 Poems To Open Your World, The Penguin Book of New Black Writing in Britain, The Fire People and Bloodaxes’ Out of Bounds: British Black and Asian Poets. He has received commissions from The National Trust, London Open House, BBC, Tate, The National Portrait Gallery, V&A, INIVA, MK Gallery and Theatre Royal Stratford East, where he was also associate artist. He is an alumni of The Complete Works, a national mentorship programme founded by Bernardine Evaristo MBE.
Roger has sat on the judging panel of some of the world's most prestigious writing prizes, including the Folio Prize, BOCAS Lit Fest, Forward Prize, Bridport Prize, T.S. Eliot Prize & RSL Ondaatje Prize. His poem A Portable Paradise features on the UK syllabus for GCSE English Literature.
His workshops have been shortlisted for the Gulbenkian Prize for Museums & Galleries & were also part of the Barbicans’ Webby award winning Can I Have A Word. His book The Butterfly Hotel was shortlisted for the OCM Bocas Poetry Prize, The Oxford Brookes Poetry Prize & highly commended by the Forward Poetry Prize. Roger has toured extensively with the British Council & is a co-founder of both Spoke Lab & the global writing collective Malika’s Kitchen.
About Ahmed Zaidan
A Finnish-Iraqi writer, journalist, and an artistic researcher.
Ahmed has won literary awards in Iraq and published his first poetry collection in 2009. In 2018, his second collection, "Aurora from Mosul," reached English and German audiences. His work appears in "Building Bridges," an Ekphrastic Writing Anthology (2017).
In Finland, he released his third poetry collection, "Kotimaa/Homeland," in 2020 with English and Finnish translations. He completed "Double Vision," an illustrated poetry project funded by Taike in 2019, which was published in 2022. He is awaiting the release of "Mosul: Story of Hope," rooted in artistic research. He is also a member of the Nordic Union of Poetic Disobedience. He graced the stage, performing in Sweden, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, and Portugal to promote interculturalism and migration. Currently, he is engaged as an artist in a research/art project titled "Endings – Refuge: Time and Space," funded by Kone Foundation, enriching my diverse literary journey.
