Queer Lens: Film screening, community meal & discussion
QTIBPOC Cinema Club
21 June | Time: 14:00 | Venue: Gut Level
ABOUT THE SHOW
QTIBPOC Cinema Club invites you for a moving film screening and community meal at Gut Level, open to everyone.
‘Lingua Franca' by Isabel Sanodva, follows the story of Olivia, a trans woman with undocumented immigration status living in Brooklyn. Whilst working as a caregiver for Olga, an elderly Jewish-Russian woman, she desperately searches for routes to safety, security and love. The screening will be followed by a shared meal and optional group discussion on themes of identity, sexual desire and structural disempowerment. There’s a beautiful upstairs garden balcony for socialising and reflective time.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
QTIBPOC Cinema club is a space for queer people of colour in Sheffield to build a community centred around the joy of watching films and organising politically.

This film includes sex scenes, some swearing, and challenging topics especially on trans issues and immigration controls. Overall it has an uplifting arc.
